HCT/P Tissue Technician


Job Location

Job Description

Manufacture of biomedical transplant products, in accordance with applicable standards and procedures (cGTP, SOPs, etc.) in a clean room environment. The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for performing human and animal tissue processing activities in accordance with FDA regulations, AATB Standards and SOPs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aseptically process and prepare tissue for transplantation using debridement equipment, scissors, scalpels, filters, homogenizers and other equipment and instruments
  • Aseptically section donor tissue-Utilize special techniques, instrumentation, and equipment to evaluate, cut, shape, machine, grind, mix and package tissue to exacting specifications and protocols
  • Aseptically perform liquid processing steps designed to morselize tissues and package as per specification
  • Aseptically set up equipment and perform mixing, cutting, packaging and sterile transfers according to SOPs and associated documents for the assigned work area
  • Aseptically and accurately weigh chemicals for production uses. Perform aseptic additions and transfers to products
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment/processes, alerting maintenance or supervisors as needed. Use computerized systems in manufacturing and documenting activities
  • Perform scanning loading duties as assigned
  • Strictly adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Current Good Documentation Practices (cGDP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and report all discrepancies immediately
  • Demonstrate hand-eye coordination and attention to detail while performing a series of repetitive operations requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity
  • Monitor product quality during manufacturing process and make independent judgments on quality of product / performance of product
  • Read, understand and verify product specifications
  • Complete required documentation in accordance with cGMP and cGDP by accurately and completely documenting activities in detailed manufacturing records
  • Ensure facility controlled areas are cleaned as per the steps and frequency described in the cleaning procedures
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Keep work areas clean and free of hazards or dangerous conditions
  • Maintain critical inventory levels for production supplies and reagents as well as required record keeping activities
  • Perform duties in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Participate in site safety programs, identify and report safety hazards or unsafe behavior
  • Verify production schedule to determine and adjust activities according to production priorities. Plan and execute activities with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with co-workers to meet business objectives and enhance team capability. Share knowledge and experience to develop team’s overall capability
  • Communicate and work with Quality Assurance on product quality issues and compliance activities and work with Maintenance to resolve problems with equipment
  • Exchange accurate and complete information regarding production with supervisor, other shifts, and other departments
  • Communicate and work with materials and production planning groups to ensure efficient flow of materials, supplies and products to/from processing areas. Readiness of site for visits or audits

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of High school diploma, post High School education preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience tissue processing and working in an aseptic/sterile environment or operating room
  • Experience with the use of precision measuring equipment such as pipettes, calipers and micrometers
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills with the ability to understand and communicate (speak, read & write) in English
  • Must have basic computer knowledge skills
  • Demonstrated organization skills and attention to detail
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit/standing for long periods of time while performing repetitive work alone or in groups in a clean room environment. Working with hands and physical use of upper body required. Occasional twisting, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting and lowering of up to 50 lbs.

Veterinary Laboratory Manager

Job Description

This is a full time positon. The Lab manager will provide coordination, communication and leadership of all activities of the diagnostic laboratory within the department of Veterinary Sciences at Surgenex.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision of day-to-day operations of the diagnostic laboratory.
  • Directs laboratory personnel in the day-to-day activities to ensure laboratory safety and compliance with departmental and regulatory.
  • Build and enforce quality control and quality assurance protocols.
  • Participate in the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Directs the validation of new methods and equipment in compliance with GLP regulations.
  • Management of laboratory software, Laboratory Information System and/or Laboratory Information Management System.

Job Requirements

Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Robust organization and time management skills to be able to manage all the work responsibilities.
  • A broad knowledge and experience in Veterinary Services including regulations, and documentation management.
  • Enough experience in the field to work confidently and independently.
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor degree in a scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of work experience in veterinary laboratory operations including two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Any of the following certifications will be of great benefit:
    • American Association of Laboratory Animal Sciences (AALAS) certification
    • Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR) certification from AALAS
    • Certified Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by National Certifying Agency (NCA)

Customer Support Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day sales orders, price quoting, order entry, order tracking, new account setup and coordination of shipping scheduling
  • Formalize and document order procedures
  • Primarily responsible to update of the CRM software (Zoho)
  • Monitor shipping schedule to determine the status of orders and notify clients of any delays in shipment on a timely basis.
